After 41 years of service at World Vision, Steve Reynolds, director of advocacy mobilization, will retire at the end of September.

Steve is one our most veteran employees and has served in numerous positions throughout World Vision. Beginning his career as a video editor, Steve deployed as a photographer at virtually a moment's notice to document the emerging Ethiopian Famine in 1984. His photographs of the famine are among our archive’s most striking and compelling images.

Highlights from Steve’s career

  • Steve became one of the first photographers to document the Ethiopian Famine in the 1980s. His photos helped the church in the United States understand the magnitude of the need.
  • Steve’s photographs have been featured multiple times as the cover image of the World Vision Magazine.
  • Steve guided U2’s Bono on the rockstar’s first tour of Africa. Steve reflects in World Vision Magazine about the significant impact the month-long trip had on Bono.
  • In 2002, Steve accompanied Bono and an entourage of celebrities and musicians on the Heart of America Tour to raise awareness about the global AIDS Crisis.
  • For the last decade, Steve has led our constituent advocacy programs that have helped pass significant legislation to address global poverty, child marriage, and continued investment in development.

With deep gratitude, we honor Steve. We celebrate 41 years of unwavering dedication to World Vision and the children we serve. For four decades, he has captured the beauty and resiliency of the human spirit through his lens and words. With compassion and integrity, Steve has illuminated the stories that often go unheard and elevated the voices of the people God loves.

For his heartfelt service to Christ and His Kingdom, we say well done.

Join us to celebrate him on November 13th!
