With the current escalation of conflict in Iraq and Syria, the July 2013 re-launching of the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, and the summer 2014 conflict in Gaza, eyes are once again turned toward the Middle East.

In the midst of all the horrific and heartbreaking news, many people ask, where is the good? Who are the people that are seeking to follow God’s call in the midst of such chaos? Where are the peacemakers?

We are encouraged knowing that there are individuals, communities, and organizations working for peace and justice in conflicts like these. This April, we would like to invite women leaders from around the U.S. to join us in visiting some of these peacemakers in Israel and the West Bank.

World Vision has been working in the Holy Land since 1975 to help children and communities reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty. Our programs focus on protecting children, supporting the sustainability of the Christian church in the Holy Land and greater Middle East, and encouraging reconciliation and peacebuilding efforts.

Many people have questions about this region. We have read the stories in the Bible for years and long to see the land where it all happened. We also see images and hear things on the news that are both complex and tragic. We know that it often feels like there are more questions than answers.

And so we invite you. Come and see.

This journey will give you the opportunity to meet everyday peacemakers. We will continually return to our foundation of community, Scripture, and prayer, to seek God’s wisdom in understanding the realities on the ground. And we will wrestle with difficult questions as we seek to better understand how we can be peacemakers as well.

This trip will also be an opportunity see the land where Jesus lived, breathed, and ministered. We will visit sites like the Garden of Gethsemane, the Sea of Galilee, and Bethlehem. We will have an opportunity to pray and worship on the hillside where Jesus delivered the Sermon on the Mount. The stories in the Bible will come alive as you walk in the land and study Scripture in the places where these events took place.

This trip is particularly focused on female leaders that are passionate about peace and justice in the Holy Land. Whether you are a female pastor, pastor’s wife, organizational leader, small group leader, or want to engage your community in this conversation, we invite you to join us.

The dates for the trip are Tuesday, April 14- Wednesday, April 22.

Registration is open now through March 1. If you have questions or would like more information, please contact Natalie Wisely, World Vision’s Advocacy Coordinator-Middle East, via email by clicking here or by telephone at 202.572.6422.

If you are male pastor or leader, or a woman unable to attend this trip, please feel free to reach out to learn about other trips to the Holy Land that are scheduled for later this year.
