Behind the scenes at  World Vision Advocacy we want to share what we are thankful for. We are thankful that God has put us in a place where we have the opportunity to help the least fortunate. We have deep gratitude for all of our advocates who are willing to educate themselves, speak out to others and take action for the most vulnerable. As you share this holiday with your families, we wanted to share what we are thankful for:

I am thankful for a few weeks of rest after a busy Fall, and the week of sunshine we’ve had in the Pacific Northwest! – Amanda, Beyond 5

I’m thankful that even during this season of political gridlock, both houses of Congress reauthorized the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), helping the world reverse the AIDS epidemic, saving millions of lives and advancing an AIDS free generation. – Adam, Vice-President of Advocacy

I am thankful for the amazing example of the typhoon affected people in the Philippines. They have been extraordinarily patient and have expressed such profound faith in the face of tremendous loss, including the death of all or most of their family members. Their trust in God and lack of rancor is a humbling reminder that the journey from Christmas to Easter needs to pass through Good Friday. – Daisy, Senior Researcher and Policy Analyst

This year I’m thankful for the dedication and creativity of advocates from around the country who broke through political deadlock to pass the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act. I am thankful for the opportunity to work with and serve advocates as they pursue justice and ensure that all children are protected. – Jessica, Advocacy Associate in Child Protection

As a native New Englander, I am thankful for the Red Sox winning the World Series. For 86 years we failed and even though we finally won in 2004, we citizens of Red Sox Nation are still formed to expect our team to under-achieve. So it is always a surprise when we win. – Nathaniel, Policy Advisor for Conflict and Disaster

I am thankful for celebrating 25 years with my beautiful wife this week. – Steve, Campaign Manager for Beyond 5

I am thankful that we have the freedom in the United States to raise our voices to our government and to call on them to take action on the issues that concern us. I’m also thankful for our “citizen advocates” around the world, especially our community health workers who are often on the front lines of holding their health facilities and local governments accountable to the citizens they serve. – Lisa, Senior Policy Advisor for Health, Education, and WASH

I am thankful that I am from a place where I was allowed an education and was able to choose my own path.  I am thankful I can speak my mind and share my ideas without any fear of persecution. – Christina, Beyond 5

My parents and sister are on their way into town! This is their first time visiting me in DC, so I’m very thankful and excited. – Craig Swandby, Advocacy Associate for Israel-Palestine

Wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!
